The Bishop of the Diocese of Punto Fijo, Venezuela, requested financial support of $15,600 for a period of three months to purchase food for the Mother Teresa Soup Kitchen, the parish meal programs and for the House of Mercy.
The Mother Teresa of Calcutta Soup Kitchen has been in operation for four years and serves meals 5 days a week to 250 people, primarily children and senior citizens. The parish meal programs volunteers prepare food once a week for 2,000 people. The House of Mercy aims to provide two meals and a snack to school age children and food five days a week to 250 senior citizens living in extreme poverty. A grant from the Mission Fund was awarded in 2020 to provide food assistance to those in need.
